art, interference and evil

You will notice from my last several blogs that my pieces are not complete. I dont know why, I just roll with it.

Saint Basil’s Cathedral is a brilliant work of art built between 1555 and 1561 in Moscow Russia. Ivan the Terrible was ruling at the time and by all means was terrible. Legend has it the cathedral’s brilliant builder was purposely blinded upon completion in Ivan’s attempt to stop him from ever building one just like it.

It is my opinion Ivan threw himself under the bus as he harnessed a true architectural genius of his time. Ivan cut out the very eyes of one who had the ability to see and create stunning beauty and erect monumental structures sweet in the heart of Russia. The interference of man’s hate? Censorship? Power? Insecurity? Socialism? Marxist?

The legend goes on to tell, French ruler Napoleon wanted to take this beauty home to France with him. Well, since that was mere impossibility, his solution was simple. Burn it. Destroy it. As fate ( or maybe God?) would prefer, it rained so hard a fire could not withstand. So after years of plunder and looting and incidents of abuse, St Basils remains for your eyes only. She will not go away.

My attempt to make art is based upon many things. My love for God, a prophetic piece of which I often don’t know the meaning until after completion, my stance on a human issue, my desire to portray something beautiful, depict a memory, or to reveal something ugly that needs to be confronted and corrected.

We live in such a fallen world. A world that needs God so badly it hurts my artists heart. I will NEVER use my art to portray hate or bitterness. NEVER! That is a never I can safely declare.

To comprehend the evil driven power in the heart of man that causes such vengeance to destroy something beautiful simply because “ If I cant have it no one can. Or….I have it and no one else ever will. Mine, mine, all mine.” breaks my heart.

Hate, censorship, silencing tongues and burning out eyes can bring me only to one conclusion. Fear and cowardly behavior dwells in the hearts of those who have the power to do so. Those who govern over the results of beautiful art inspired by The Holy Spirit from a Jesus freak ,hence it be music or a poem or a painting or beauty or truth, are cutting off the very limb of the human spirit. We as individuals should not have to buy into or be forced to support the artistic meaning of other art works. However, we must have the freedom to express our opinion as long as it is not based in hate of others. or damaging to young minds.

The builder of St Basil’s probably never saw it coming. His creation was an extraordinary expression of good and beauty. We have an advantage. We can see it coming.

When the government steps in, rather intrudes and captures in an attempt to cut us when we ignite art and truth in our hearts, they are smashing the very gear that causes this world to tick. The are shooting themselves in the foot.
